I created a building model and now I need to generate its mirrored version. What is the correct procedure to obtain a mirrored duplicate of the building?

Answer
To correctly generate the mirrored version of the model, you can follow the procedure below:

1 Set a guide point on the reference level
Before starting the duplication process, it is recommended to place a guide point (snap) on the reference level. This point will serve as the origin for positioning the mirrored building.

2 Go to the 3D view and select the entire model
Switch to the 3D view and use a selection rectangle to include all the objects of the building.
(Alternatively, you can select the model level by level, but selecting directly in 3D allows you to complete the operation faster.)

3 Unlock the padlock and reposition the manipulator handle
Once the model is selected, unlock the padlock and move the manipulator handle to the previously defined guide point. This ensures that the mirrored model will be correctly aligned in space.

4 Copy and paste the block relative to the reference point
Copy the model using:
right-click → Copy, or Ctrl + C.
Paste it using the guide point so that the objects maintain the correct spatial reference.

5 Access the three-dot menu and activate the “Mirror” command
Once the duplicated model has been pasted, click the three dots in the contextual menu and select the Mirror command.
This will flip the building with respect to the desired axis.

6 Position the mirrored building using the guide point
After the mirroring operation is completed, position the mirrored building by referencing the initial guide point to ensure accuracy and symmetry.

Important Note
It may happen that the “Mirror” command appears disabled.
This occurs when the selection contains at least one object that does not support the mirroring operation (for example: light points, elevators, or certain MEP objects).

In this case, simply:
  • temporarily disable the visibility of non-mirrorable objects,
  • repeat the selection,
  • run the procedure again.

Additionally, if the two buildings are adjacent, it is advisable to place two guide points: the first point for the copy and paste operation in the 3D space, and the second point for the correct placement of the mirrored building.
