I would like to share a support request.

Question
Can I create/modify the Edificius-CAD interface to display the commands I use most frequently?

Answer
Yes. Customizing the user interface of Edificius-CAD is an excellent way to optimize the workflow and adapt the environment to your needs.

First of all, it is necessary to distinguish the 4 concepts in question.
  1. User Interface (UI)
    The user interface is the complete set of visual and functional elements that allow you to interact with the software.
    Includes: Ribbon, Toolbars, Drop-down menus, Palettes, Status bar, Command window, Layout and model tabs.
    In practice, it is everything visible in the program window.
  2. Workspace
    A workspace is a configuration of the user interface that includes:
    Toolbars, Menus, Palettes, Ribbon, Specific commands.
    Each workspace is designed to simplify the work depending on the type of drawing you are doing.
    In Edificius-CAD the following workspaces are available:
    Drafting & Annotation: Optimized for 2D drawings, with dimensioning, text, and layer tools.
    Classic: Traditional interface with floating toolbars and drop-down menus.
    View and Markup: A workspace dedicated to reviewing, annotating, and viewing drawings. Very useful in collaboration, approval, or quality control contexts.
    Custom: Created by the user, with manually chosen layout and tools.
  3. The Ribbon, or multifunction bar, is a user interface element that makes access to commands more intuitive and organized.
    It groups related commands together (for example, in Annotate you will find Text, Dimensioning tools, etc.).
  4. The Toolbar, instead, is a graphical interface that collects commands, improving efficiency and productivity in technical drawing (for example, the Draw toolbar includes line, polyline, spline,...).

Customize User Interface (CUI)
Edificius-CAD provides an editor to modify workspaces, menus, toolbars, ribbons, and commands.
You can access this editor in several ways:
  • By typing _CUSTOMIZE in the command bar;
  • By right-clicking on the ribbon at the top and selecting the Customize option;
  • From the “workspace” menu located in the title bar, again choosing the Customize command in the drop-down menu;
  • Etc.

Here are some examples of customization
a. Hide a function from a Menu (obviously active and positioned in the user interface)
From the Current Customization drop-down menu on the left, you can choose the entity to modify and, from the Properties panel on the right, set False for visibility.

b. Create/rename/copy/delete a workspace
Just right-click on Workspace.

c. Create a toolbar
In ICAD >> Toolbars >> right-click.

d. Add a command to a toolbar
- Locate the toolbar in Current Customization;
- Choose the command in Command list;
- Drag it to the chosen toolbar.

N.B.
The operation is similar for all CAD software.
You can always access the Edificius-CAD help by pressing the F1 key on the keyboard.
