How to model buildings not aligned with reference axes

Here's an interesting user support request that I wanted to share with the Edificius community

Request
I have a building with some portions not aligned with the reference axes.
Can I change the coordinate system to simplify modeling?

Answer
Certainly. If you need to model parts of a building that are not orthogonal to the axes, it is possible to define a new local coordinate system (UCS) which allows you to set a new "X" axis to work with, exploiting orthogonality and alignment with the new axes.

How to proceed:
- While on the Level, access the "Tools" menu in the toolbar and select the UCS option;
- From the local menu, select "New UCS (X axis)";
- Go to the point on the model where you want to set the origin of the new X axis and left-click;
- Move to the second point on the model where you want to set the end point and therefore the "new" X axis alignment, then left-click again.

The model will now be aligned according to the newly defined "X" axis.
You can then proceed to model the previously non-aligned portion of the building, taking advantage of orthogonality and alignment with the new axes.

You can repeat this procedure to define all the new local coordinate systems needed for easier modeling.

Once modeling is complete, accessing the "Active UCS" command (located in the top left corner of the level) you can:
- Select the "Restore" option – to restore the project’s initial reference system;
- Select the "Consolidate" option – to consolidate the new reference system, which will then become the reference system for the entire project.

WARNING
With a new "active" local reference system, it is not possible to open the drawing models, create renderings, add sections, photo-montages, or perform similar operations.
To be able to proceed with the above, you have to return to the previous reference system or consolidate the new defined system.
