Question: I would like to have further help with regard to the meaning of some of the information provided in the beam reinforcement diagrams. What kind of info is shown? Answer: The reinforcement diagrams provide, in relation to a specific type of stress (bending, shear+torsion or torsion), the total Rebar areas (necessary and inserted) in the beam. In particular, for the beams verified for straight compressive bending, the various diagrams show: • Bending (reinforcement): the reinforcement areas relating to the contributions of longitudinal rebars for bending; • Shear+torsion (stirrups and shaped rebars): the reinforcement areas relating to the contribution offered by stirrups for Shear and torsion and possible contributions offered by shaped rebars for shear; • Torsion (longitudinal rebars): the reinforcement areas offered by longitudinal rebars operating for torsion. With reference, for example, to the relative to the following diagram option Deflection (reinforcements), by positioning the cursor at a point along the beam, in correspondence to the vertical line, the iron area values in relation to the bending resistant rebars are both graphically and numerically shown (upper and lower rebars). In particular, above the diagram, in correspondence to the vertical line, from left to right, the following values in cm² are also shown: • Maximum rebar area needed in the upper area of the entire beam (in red between brackets); • The necessary rebar area in the upper section of the beam and identified by the vertical line (in red); • The rebar area available in the upper section of the beam and identified by the vertical line (in green); • Maximum rebar area as available at the upper section of the beam (in green between brackets). The following values in cm² are also shown: • Maximum rebar area needed in the bottom area of the entire beam (in red between brackets); • The necessary rebar area in the bottom section of the beam and identified by the vertical line (in red); • The rebar area available in the bottom section of the beam and identified by the vertical line (in green ); • Maximum rebar area as available at the bottom section of the beam (in green between brackets). When modifying the rebars as proposed by the program, should a certain area of the beam reinforcement diagram not be covered by the inserted reinforcements diagram, the program will rapidly detect these errors. In fact, at the intersection points between the necessary beam reinforcements and the designed reinforcements (exposed reinforcement areas), a series of flashing red dots will attract the users attention so as to deal with the issue.
