Request: How can I account for the exterior painting of a multi-storey building
Reply: Exterior painting works can be dealt with using two different methods.
1. You can build up the quantity take-off by considering the building envelope surfaces. (image 1) Proceed as follows: - select all Building Envelope entities; - select the appropriate Price Book item with its correct unit rate per sq.m; - from the archive, choose "wall surface net of voids" as the measurement model.
2. You can consider the cost for paint works using the "surface lining" object. (Image 2) Use the "surface lining" object to cover the whole facade, so proceed as follows: - within the BoQ select the surface lining; - select the price list item with which you want to calculate the paintings; - from the archive, as the measurement model, choose "surface".
